I’m Leisl Schrader, and I’ll be your author. Here at Remix Design, I’m the boss.
For our first post, here’s some work that will never make it onto any portfolio. Back in the last millenium, the first things I ever “designed” — unknowingly — were skins for the popular Windows (man, remember Windows?) MP3 player, Winamp. Visuals reflected my passions for video games and Photoshop filters.
I enjoy very much looking at older work. In addition to bringing back memories, I feel a fondness like a child’s simple but treasured refrigerator drawings. As time and careers go on, many designers beceome progressively less personal and expressive; looking back always lets us find old, forgotten, and often youthfully vibrant creativity.
What do you think? When you look at your extremely old work, do you feel disgust and shame that the pieces still even exist, or amusement and pride in how far you’ve come? What do you gain from looking at it?
